Reducing weight flexibility in fuzzy DEA
نویسندگان
چکیده
An important outcome of assessing relative efficiencies within a group of decision making units (DMUs) in fuzzy data envelopment analysis is a set of virtual multipliers or weights accorded to each (input or output) factor taken into account. These sets of weights are, typically, different for each of the participating DMUs, and in some cases it may be considered unacceptable that the same factor is accorded widely differing weights. Thus, it is important to find a common set of weights (CSW) across the set of DMUs. In this paper, by assessing upper bounds on factor weights and compacting the resulted intervals, a CSW is determined. Since resulted efficiencies by the proposed CSW are fuzzy numbers rather than crisp values, it is more informative for decision maker. 2004 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Data Envelopment Analysis using Fuzzy Concept
Mathematical programming is one of the areas to which fuq set theoq has been applied extensively. Primarily based on Bellman and Zadeh’s model of decision in fuzzy environments, models have been suggested which allow flexibility in constraints and nonlinear programming. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a method of evaluating relative efJiciencies for a group of similar units based on an efici...

A Hybrid Fuzzy DEA/AHP Methodology for Ranking Units in a Fuzzy Environment
In this paper, a novel approach combining fuzzy data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the analytical hierarchical process (AHP) is proposed to rank units with multiple fuzzy criteria. The hybrid fuzzy DEA/AHP approach derives the AHP pairwise comparisons by fuzzy DEA and utilizes AHP to fully rank units. It shows that the proposed approach generates a logical ranking of units that has perfect com...
متن کاملData Envelopment Analysis with Fuzzy Parameters: An Interactive Approach
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a methodology for measuring the relative efficiencies of a set of decision making units (DMUs) that use multiple inputs to produce multiple outputs. In the conventional DEA, all the data assume the form of specific numerical values. However, the observed values of the input and output data in real-life problems are sometimes imprecise or vague. Previous method...
متن کاملA New Look at Selecting Third-Party Reverse Logistics Providers
The use of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) in many fields is based on total flexibility of the weights. However, the problem of allowing total flexibility of the weights is that the values of the weights obtained by solving the unrestricted DEA program are often in contradiction to prior views or additional available information. Also, many applications of DEA assume complete discretionary of d...
